Finish Gelcoat finish

The Leopard 46 is a blue water cruising catamaran built in South Africa by Roberson and Caine. Construction is of vacuum-bagged E-glass over balsa core with isophthalic gelcoat on the hulls and decks to reduce the chance of osmosis. The keels are separate, bolt-on units designed to break away and thus reduce damage to the hulls in the event of a hard collision with something solid. The hulls are narrow at the waterline with a very fine entry, then flare sharply to a chine just above the waterline. This provides for good interior volume and reserve buoyancy underway.

Length overall with dinghy on davits is 50 ft.

Waterline Boats / Boasted does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

The boat features an expansive layout inside and out with four double staterooms plus convertible space to sleep eleven total.

Enter the salon through a sliding glass door from the large covered cockpit with outside dining table and entertainment features. Inside the salon expands between the hulls of this catamaran with great views through large windows. The trim is satin finished cherry wood and the floors are wood laminate for easy maintenance and durabilty. To port is a counter with storage. The electrical panels are located here. Below the counter is the large Seafrost refrigerator and freezer (new, 2014). Forward to port is a large U-shaped settee dining area with ivory leatherette upholstery (new, 2014). This settee converts to sleep two persons. Opposite to starboard is a very large navigation station. A full complement of electronics and ample space for charts will be found here.

Aft in the salon to starboard is the full galley. A Force 10 three burner propane stove with oven is installed in cabinetry with ample storage. A dark granite countertop, double SS sink, and overhead cabinetry completes the galley.

The boat heating and cooling is provided by three Cruiseair reverse-cycle units: (two (2) x 12,000 BTU and one (1) x 16,000 BTU capacity). Headroom is 6’ 3” throughout the boat interior.

The staterooms are located port and starboard from the salon a few steps down. To port the forward stateroom features a pedestal queen sized berth, hanging locker, and a private head compartment with stall shower. A single berth is located forward through an opening hatch beyond this berth, and would be a great berth for a small child. Aft through the hallway is another double cabin with a queen sized berth and private head compartment and stall shower. The layout for the starboard staterooms is similar. The forward cabin does not include the extra single berth, however. Instead, there is an external head compartment accessible from the deck outside.

UPDATE 25 AUG 2019:
Our Leopard 46 Catamaran is not expected to reach the sales dock in Seattle for a few more weeks. The boat remains hauled out in Port Townsend. Both engines have been removed and a complete rebuild of both Volvo Saildrive units is in-work. During this time please contact us to schedule a showing.

A rare find in the Pacific Northwest, our Leopard 46 Catamaran is built for blue water sailing and very comfortable cruising. These boats were designed for speed under sail while providing a spacious four stateroom layout plan - each cabin with a private marine toilet and stall shower. The interior features expansive windows for ambient light and great views from the salon. The interior is trimmed in cherry wood and ivory leatherette upholstery with laminate flooring. The interior navigation station is very large and includes a new Raymarine suite of network-integrated electronics including an Axiom MFD to permit steering from the nav station. A new AIS Transceiver adds to safety at sea and situational awareness.

Twin 55 HP Volvo D55 engines in each hull provide for great maneuverability and redundancy. These are currently removed from the boat for saildrive rebuilds.

Rugged hardtop biminis with canvas enclosures shelter the large cockpit and the elevated helm station - a great feature for Northwest sailing. There’s a ton of room in the cockpit for entertaining. It’s easy to move around the deck on this boat, and easy to board with the integrated steps in the stern of each hull. Besides this, a clever swim platform is integrated to the dinghy davits and provides water access when lowered. New blue LED underwater lighting brings some fun and style as well.

Catamarans provide great living space inside, stable and fast cruising, and an expansive deck to enjoy at anchor. All of these characteristics are ideal for Pacific Northwest cruising as well as offshore voyaging. That’s another reason these boats are so popular in charter operation. Our Leopard 46 is designed to optimize these attributes in a stylish, capable, and fun cruising catamaran you can take anywhere.

Please reach out if you are interested in discovering more about this boat in person.
