The shallow rudder of the Mk1 model is well protected against grounding by a substantial skeg and heel plate.

Fixed ballast is in the form of a wide pancake iron casting which acts as a grounding plate, through which drops an aerofoil section, cast iron swing keel. This pivots on a stainless steel bearing and is raised and lowered by an electrically driven hydraulic ram, which is operated from the cockpit. There is also a hand operated back-up and the keel can be locked up or down.

Twin helms in cockpit and wheelhouse.

Broker's Comments

The Southerly 115 is a comfortable cruising yacht with a high volume hull that still delivers good performance. They are spacious deck-saloons with good visibility and a second interior steering position at the nav station. The drop-keel is conveniently winched elecronically which allows the boat to float in very shallow water.

This Mk1 version has large the full-width aft cabin and comes with twin, electrically operated heads. She is well equipped with the inclusion of a colour chart plotter, radar, electric windlass and bow thruster.
