Broker's Comments
This Kim Holman designed and Tyler/Upham built Twister 28 is a real head turning classic. Originally designed as a ‘bigger sister’ to the hugely successful Stella, the Twister was beamier, longer and had a deeper draught. This design optimisation meant that she retained the same RORC rating as the Stella, effectively twisting the rules, hence the name Twister.
The design went on to sweep the board in her class. Such was the design that they still remain competitive today with this boat having previously won the Twister Trophy.
Her beautiful lines will turn many heads; furthermore they are no slouch, equally at home competitively racing around the cans or long distance cruising. The Twisters have renowned sea keeping qualities with a reputation of looking after its crew in heavy weather; many have undertaken long voyages and Atlantic crossings, some have even been around the world.
This composite Twister 28, arguably the most attractive option of the Twister marquee, has just undergone a major topsides refurbishment which included a hull re-spray and re-varnishing. The interior has also been re-varnished. Other recent works include replacement standing rigging and main sail in 2014.
Descending through the beautifully varnished companionway into the saloon, you are greeted with a classic wooden interior which gives a cosy feel. Interior furnishings and upholstery are in excellent order. The layout is practical with a full size chart table to port opposite of which is the galley. The cleverly designed saloon table folds away to give more space in the saloon.
If you are looking for a timeless classic capable of offshore cruising, this excellent example of the Twister 28 has to be worth serious consideration and now at this new, significantly, reduced price offers great value, possibly now one of the cheapest of its kind on the market.
