“The Wind and the Waves are still free!” - Boatshed Dalmatia Expands its Used Boat Sales into Istria and Slovenia

Boatshed Dalmatia is moving on up. And west and north-west. Based in Zadar and currently selling boats on the amazing Dalmatian Coast, Croatia’s own brand of International Yacht Brokers John Harkness & Lynn Kennedy are now expanding their boat sales into Istria and even further northwards into Slovenia, the country known as “Europe’s best kept secret”.

When asked why expand during a credit crunch, John just smiles, “We love boats. And we really love matching the right person to the right boat. The credit crunch just means we all want to spend more time on the water, not less. After all, credit crunch or not, the wind and the waves are still free!” Plus boats are selling, the Boatshed group has their best three months to date.

Lynn adds, “Everyone we talk to tells us one of three things. They are looking for great deals to trade up. They are happy to tighten their belts and downsize to a smaller boat. Or they are fed up and finally ready to buy their first boat and see if life really does look better when viewed from the water! Our aim is simply to sell them the boat that best fits their needs.”

John adds, “We were really pleased and quite touched that several owners outside our boat sales area in Croatia actually moved their boats so we could list them for sale. Now we can really thank owners by working wider across Croatia and also into Slovenia so they don’t have to bring their boats to us to sell!”

It’s not much of a surprise that Croatia’s own International Yacht Brokers have chosen to expand into Istria. After all, Istria has long been known for her coastline and as a top Adriatic sailing destination. However, Slovenia may not be the first place which springs to mind when searching for your dream boat. After all, the coastline is just 40km! However, Lynn says, “The Slovenes invented skiing, are incredible outdoor enthusiasts and those who sail are absolutely passionate about it. There may only be 3 marinas (Portoroz, Izola and Koper) but they are well equipped, environmentally sound and there is no shortage of quality boats for sale or sailing partners. What more could you really want?”

The Bay of Piran in Slovenia is a great starting point for sailing and cruising around the Adriatic, with the added bonus that from here you can really explore Slovenia’s beautiful interior and its unique karst region. Quite simply it’s not only great for sailing, but also a beautiful, relatively ‘undiscovered’ holiday destination.

As John explains, “We just want to make buying a boat in Croatia or Slovenia simple and easy.
